Carol's Creations bringing a woman's touch to home remodeling.

BEFORE
Spring is the time our thoughts turn to home remodeling and updating our current home. One of the biggest home remodeling projects and the one with the most impact is the kitchen.

There are several options for updating. Painting is a relatively  inexpensive solution and can brighten and freshen the look of your kitchen. Painting the cabinets is also an option and can take decades off your kitchen. A higher gloss pain or a good quality eggshell is advised for the kitchen, it is easier to clean. Adding hardware to the cabinet can also enhance  the look of your cabinets.

New faucets and handles are an effective update. Installing new lighting fixtures can make a small room appear larger and cheerier.

A tile back splash or new counter top can add that "Wow" factor. Decorative tile back splashes compliment Formica, corian, tile and granite counter tops. Tile works especially well on the vertical surface. It is durable and resistant to stains. Tile counter tops provide good durability and are heat resistance. The disadvantage to tile counter is the possibility a tile will crack or chip and need to be replaced. Always order a few extra tiles.

BEFORE
Ceramic tiles are made from clay, talc and other minerals. The tiles are put through a firing process under high temperatures. Ceramic tiles are available in countless colors. There is a trend towards using murals in the back splash. Pre-made murals are available or you may custom order.

Porcelain Tile is durable and resistant to scratches and chips because it is made from the same material, top and bottom. Porcelain tiles can resemble real stone and are available in similar shades and textures.

Glass tiles can be used in borders, as accent tiles or as mosaics. Glass tile's unique ability to reflect lightens and brightens the kitchen.
